July Meeting Re-Cap

Better late than never, right?!?

For the July meeting of the South Jersey Modern Quilt Guild, guild members showed off their challenge blocks for the Modern Quilt Guild Quilt Con Block Challenge.

Click on the links under the pictures to take you to the block featured the Modern Quilt Guild's blog!  There are some amazing blocks showcased on the blog.

Other activities at the July meeting included an English paper piecing (hexies!!) demo, revealing the challenge for September*, and show & tell.  More information to follow on the September challenge soon!

*There was no scheduled August meeting for SJMQG due to other scheduled guild events.

July Challenge - Quilt Con block

The Modern Quilt Guild is hosting Quilt Con in February 2013.  As part of Quilt Con, the MQG issued a challenge to modern quilters to create blocks in the colors of the Quilt Con logo representing what modern quilting means.  For the July Meeting, create a block in the colors of the logo (over there in the side bar ----->) measuring 12.5 inches by whatever width you'd like {seriously, that's what it says!}.  Blocks can be made in solids or prints.  Fabric bundles have been assembled by select online fabric stores or work from stash.  If you bring your blocks to the meeting, we can send them in together.  If you are submitting blocks on your own, blocks are due no later than August 15, 2012 with your block challenge entry form.

Elizabeth Hartman will be judging the challenge blocks and the winning blocks will be made into a quilt to be raffled off at Quilt Con.  Remaining blocks will be made into quilts and donated to the Austin Children's Shelter in Austin, Texas.
